Sol y Sombras en el Jardín

The title of the painting translates to "Garden of Sun and Shadows" in English. It's the second artwork in the series and the only painting that doesn't feature physical water but connects with the series' theme. The painting is a reflection of the type of artist I am and the type of subject I paint the most. This painting reflects the beauty of a garden in vivid and saturated colors that reflect the expressionist approach I take in each painting.

24 x 48 inch

This scene caught my eye in real life with the bright white flowers partially in shadow and in sunlight with a tree cast behind causing the shadows. The flowers in the painting lean towards a bold violet tint for the shadow effects since I didn't want to paint the shadow a grey hue. In art, you are the artist, you can change the colors if you want! Whether you pick bold or more muted colors. You get to choose the direction of the painting (I always test the colors in swatches or in a sketch first).

This scene is from a local garden I had visited in early August. It was full of hibiscus flowers in full bloom between their verdure leaves. The tree cast behind is one of the trees surrounding the hibiscus flowers. The tree captures the bright mid-afternoon sun glow on the leaves as it recedes into the cloudy blue sky.
