Brizna Sobre los Árboles

The painting's title translates to "Drizzle Over the Trees." Light rain and overcast clouds are usual in the area where I live. I wanted to recreate a piece that shows this type of climate. Despite the clouds covering the sunshine, there is still a sense of light. Some of the lighter colors on the landscape are still vibrant, like the green grass and pink trees. The colors are rich against the darker trees and cloudy sky.

9 x 12 inches

Brizna Sobre los Árboles is the last painting in the reflection series. It is also smaller sized, being 9x12 inches. The reflection of this painting is very loose. When rain droplets hit the lake's surface, there's a stronger blur in the reflection. I went from precise marks at the beginning of the series to looser paint strokes. Mark-making is still a highlight in each painting like this one, continuing it on the foreground grass and tree trunk. Keeping the grass feathery and the trunk rigid with all its woody texture. I glazed over the shadows in the painting since they aren't prominent on an overcast day. In my next post, I'll show a way of how to glaze with acrylic paint.
