Cisnes al Anochecer
The painting's English translation is Swans at Dusk. This painting took a different color pallet approach, since the last three paintings were captured during and before the sunset- featuring lighter colors. At dusk, the glim of light is on the horizon, thus introducing the nighttime. This painting features a cloudy night, with the clouds covering up some of the last daylight. The light glimmers on the water, causing a luminescence on the swan's feathers.
This painting features animals in the landscape. When planning this painting, I knew I wanted to get bold purples and pinks in the sky and on the water reflection, but I also wanted to add some figures reflecting that color. The two white-feathered swans reflect all the light and color of the landscape. Adding figures to a painting creates interest in a simple landscape. This landscape leaned a little closer to an abstract approach. The last painting, Brisa Entre las Flores, had a background that had loose brushstrokes, so I wanted to continue with that same approach to this one.
This painting is also not inspired by an actual place but rather by the theme of the series and local birds. Yet, when I look at this painting, it reminds me of a time months later when I was out plein-air painting by a pond that had swans. It was seeing the painting come to life in less saturated colors.
