Jardín Rosado

The painting's title in English translates to "Rosy Garden." The painting was inspired by a large willow tree. The long, drapey leaves caught my attention. It's from the same garden visit of Sol y Sombras en el Jardín. I recreated that large weeping tree along with the landscape, using pink as my main color, which inspired the title. I wanted to keep the color light leaning toward a light pastel sunset. Changing all the colors on a large-sized landscape was something I'd never done before. This one was the fifth painting in the series and the largest size.

Painting a small thumbnail before creating the final piece is convenient, you make fewer mistakes on a larger format. Here is an example of three possible color outcomes of a piece. In the final piece, I still tweaked the colors in some areas, this helps organize a piece and to test color combinations. You save time painting in the end even though a piece like this takes two to three months for me to create. I love recreating the colors I see, but I also love adding in other colors that aren't there.
